Making the Most of Skyrim with Cheats
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim came out earlier this year and gamers of all stripes flocked to the game. Featuring a huge open world with truly free choices, Skyrim has been the game of choice for many gamers since it came out. In a game so large, however, players are bound to get a little lost, run out of ideas on what to do, or miss interesting sidequests or items. Also, the game can be difficult to play without some help. For many players, the solution to these problems is cheats. Cheats, glitches, or Easter eggs all allow players an advantage.
There are many different types of Skyrim cheats, which can be used for a variety of effects. These effects include leveling up the character, getting rare treasure, or getting extra character upgrades.
Leveling Skyrim Cheats
One thing that helps every character in Skyrim is leveling up. This makes characters more skilled, more powerful, or just more able to move through quests and areas. Leveling in Skyrim, like in the other Elder Scrolls games, comes through the practice and leveling of skills. There are many ways to do this specific to each skill, but leveling the character in general is best done by leveling the character’s offensive skills. You need to consider these with Skyrim cheats:
- Weapon, Destruction, Shield – Do the Dark Brotherhood quests until you earn the horse Shadowmere. Then attack Shadowmere with any of your attacks that you want to level up. Shadowmere is invincible, and will not attack you back. This will raise the skill of whatever attack you use.
- Sneak, Weapon – Sneak up behind a quest character (one that cannot die) while no other characters are around, and attack them. Then wait for them to reset and repeat. This will raise your Weapon skill as well as your Sneak skill, and will consequently level up your character.
- Armor, Restoration – Find an enemy who is a lower level than you with a quick weapon, set the difficulty to novice, and let them attack you while you heal yourself. Your Armor and Restoration skills will both be raised and you will thus level up. Be sure to keep an eye on your health while trying this though.
- Block – Find an enemy that cannot swim, then stand with your back to water and hold your shield up in front of the enemy. This will raise your Block skill.
- Pickpocket – In the jail in Riften, there is a man named Black-Briar. If you pickpocket him and get caught, you will still be allowed to pickpocket him, unlike with any other person. Take all of his items and return them repeatedly to level up your Pickpocket skill.
- Restoration – If the method with an enemy does not sound appealing to you, go to High Hrothgar. Find the blizzard there and stand in it to start taking damage. Continually heal yourself and walk out of the blizzard when needed. This will raise your Restoration skill and is safer than the above method using an enemy.
The Treasure in Skyrim Cheats
One of the best parts of any RPG is the treasure. Whether amazing items or a stockpile of gold, every player finds something irresistible. Skyrim has a lot of treasure to find, but it also has a lot of cheats to get a hold on that treasure.
- Duplicating Armor – If you have a house with mannequins, put your armor onto them then remove it before closing the menu. Leave the area and return to find another copy of the armor on the mannequin. Do this for backup copies of your armor or to sell for some quick cash.
- Exploiting Your Spouse – Marry a character that you have as a follower then ask to trade items with them and take their money. Rest for a day, and then ask them again. Repeat this for as much gold as you need. This is an important thing concerning Skyrim cheats.
- Making Armor and Weapons – Since there are both enchantments and potions that increase skills, you can exploit a combination of the two for financial as well as skill gain. Enchant gear to increase Alchemy then create a potion to increase Enchantment. Repeat this back and forth then create gear and potions to increase Smithing. Use your newfound Smithing skill to create high-quality weapons and armor then Enchant it for some really nice gear that you made yourself.
- Infinite Arrows – To get infinite arrows, find someone practicing archery on target dummies. Either take the arrows they are firing, or Pickpocket them and replace their arrows with whatever type of arrow you want. He will continue firing arrows, and you can continue taking them.
Character Upgrade Cheats in Skyrim
In an RPG, having a powerful character is very important. There are Skyrim cheats to make characters more powerful, more capable, or more convenient for the player.
- Invincible Companion – Most followers you can get in Skyrim, though strong, are killable. Not so with this companion. The best part is, this companion doesn’t limit you to not having another companion. To get your own invincible pet dog, go to Falkreath. Speak to the man named Lod, who will ask you to find his dog. Find the dog and follow it to the Shrine of Clavicus Vile. Talk to the Daedra Lord to start a quest. For as long as you are on the quest, the dog will follow you and be unable to die.
- Quick Swimming – If you have a horse, there’s no need to avoid water or swim slowly through it. Just start swimming; then dismount and remount your horse, and you will be riding just as fast as you would on land.
You may find these Skyrim cheats to be helpful, as they give you an edge over other players, and it is for this reason that they are very popular today.
